December Tot School Lesson Plan – J is for Jesus!

Posted: November 30, 2012 in Uncategorized

This month I will only have E for one week due to the Christmas holidays. 😦 So we’ll just have to squeeze a lot of Christmasy fun into that week! Here’s our plan for December:

Bible Verse: Matthew 1:21b

“And you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.”

Book: The Legend of the Candy Cane or Happy Birthday, Jesus! (I ordered the candy cane book, which I have previously used in Kindergarten (and was long even for them), and I thought it would be a condensed version since it’s a board book…but it’s not! So I’ll just have to shorten it myself!)
Book Craft: Candy Cane Ornament – We might just use red foam and white paint to make fingerprint candy canes this year and save this other craft for when they are older.

Color Focus: Red

Make a red bag (collect red items throughout the house)

Red bath (peppermint scented?)

Red painting (maybe using pine needles as the brush?)

Letter Focus: J is for Jesus

J is for Jesus Coloring Page

J is for Jesus Do a Dot Art or Happy Birthday, Jesus Do a Dot Art

Music (Mondays): Grooveshark Playlist

There is a reason for Christmas and Jesus is his name-oh!

J-E-S-U-S, J-E-S-U-S, J-E-S-U-S and Jesus is his name-oh!

(I made this one up; oirginal, huh?)

Art Exploration/Dramatic Play (Tuesdays):

Christmas Tree Decorating

Melissa and Doug Nativity Set

Science/Sensory (Wednesdays):

Tinsel Sensory Bin

Peppermint Playdoh

Math (Thursdays):

Sorting red and green bows

Snack:

Strawberry/banana candy canes
